Egypt - land of the golden sun.
I've returned to Egypt after 15 years. Again I welcomed clear, blue sky and great Nile. Again I stared at the endless desert and merciless sun. Again.
There are places that call through time and space. Places that burn your soul. For me Egypt is one of them.
Going back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. 15 years I've waited.

My Egypt was never about pyramids. It was about the desert and Nile River and people trying to live between them. My Egypt was always a dream about exotic places, ancient history and travels.
But standing in their shadows I couldn't resist their beauty.

But can you see the Sun somewhere in the darkness?
I shot this photo from the deck of the hotel boat on the Nile River. I wasn't expecting sunset photos at all as clear sky isn't something I like. And believe me, in southern part of Egypt single cloud is national attraction!
So I was lazily sitting on the deck sipping hibiscus juice and watching flocks of white birds gathering for the night. The Sun was slowly descending, shadows were creeping in. I looked to the right and then I saw it. A palm tree.... And another... The darkness moving toward the golden disc. Devouring the light...
There is always the light in the darkness? Or there is a darkness in every light?
